Virtual care (or a virtual counselling appointment) is a way for you to talk to your counsellor by video from the comfort of your own home.
What do I need for my session?
An email address
Internet access
A computer with a webcam and microphone (recommended), OR a smartphone, OR a tablet
You are encouraged to have a pen and paper for notes.
How does a video appointment work?
A video appointment functions much like an in-person session that takes place virtually.
Your counsellor will send you the meeting link via a calendar invite for the scheduled session's date and time.
How is my privacy protected?
Your conversations with your counsellor are completely confidential, with the exception in cases where there is a risk of imminent and serious harm to you or others, or when required by law.
Sarah Montes Recovery Services uses only PHIPA-compliant video conferencing software.
You can help protect your privacy by:
Ensuring you are in a private space during virtual appointments
Using a personal email and device, rather than one provided by your employer or a public source
Connecting via your home internet network, rather than a public network
Wearing headphones to maintain privacy if others are nearby.
How do I make a change to my appointment?
If you need to reschedule your appointment please contact your counsellor via email directly.
If you need to cancel your appointment, please do so with 24 hours’ notice and contact your counsellor via email to reschedule.
Missed appointments and short notice cancelled appointments will incur an invoice at the current rate and must be settled prior to rescheduling.
